WORK 03
1-2 Minute Short Film – No Dialogue
Upon starting college and familiarizing myself with the equipment available, I set out to complete my first case of important coursework. I have encountered numerous hurdles when dealing with the students around me, yet I aim to adapt to each situation as it arises and learn from these experiences. I slowed the walk, stuck with harsher cuts and used a more somber piece of music – all to try and achieve a more specific tone. I had to make a slight change to the title in my edit, due to my use of the music.

Comparisons
The video that is uploaded above was filmed and edited entirely by me, as well as acting as director. Though others had their own roles, I wish to learn and practice as many aspects of the process as possible, increasing my understanding of what is required from each position in the process. For fair comparison, I’m uploading their edit here also. Personally, I see merit in both perspectives of the same story, as well as finding them fascinating. I see multiple elements throughout both edits that I would change and re-shoot, yet could not due to time constraints.

Casting Call
Although the attempt was unsuccessful, my group tried to gather acting assistance from other parts of the college. In trying this, we practiced conversing with other people and creating a poster for the online-specific interest-building.

WORK 04
Trailer Dubbing
To get ourselves accustomed to the audio recording, editing, and lip-syncing process, we’ve been asked to replicate all the audio in a trailer of our choice. The voice acting is very amateurish, yet with the goal of the project being more on the editing side – I decided to focus more on the editing than re-recording voice lines.

Helping another group
After reaching a comfortable point with my group’s short film, I offered out and helped two other groups with theirs. I am only linking this one as the other featured me as an actor, while this one had me working as a camera operator – suggesting and helping film specific shots in the latter part of the video.

Learning After Effects
As part of my course we were taught some basic After Effects techniques and I decided to practice them and create 2 short videos highlighting the techniques I was learning and practicing.

WORK 05
Music Video
For this project I have taken on the role of director again, as well as editing down our song choice to fit within our time constraints. Filming has taken place in public spaces in dark conditions, forcing us to create a more in-depth risk assessment and meeting plan/schedule. Extra care was taken during each filming day to avoid any danger. This here is my own personal edit.

Helping Another Group
When near finishing my own music video project, I offered out my assistance to other groups. Though I may not have ended up doing much, I helped by focusing and maneuvering the camera to capture their lead character at all times, despite any movements, and keep them in focus.
