After a period of increasingly bad news, with few positives between, I am sad to say that my cousin passed away at the end of this week.
Before this news, we finalised the cast and crew for this new project with the other class and started the process of filming our simpler scenes. Between filming dates and times, we would organise future plans with our recently brought in producer and communicate with people from around the college regarding the project. This includes attempting to create a more solid line of communication between the media and performing arts/drama students, checking up on music student progress (regarding a piece of music that we’d like to include in the final product), as well as communicating with the college marketing team. The purpose of the latter is to hopefully spread the reach that this final product can have, as well as cater it fully to the college and its provided media course.
The concept of this project is to create a comedic and entertaining video introduction to the media course, that teaches some fundamentals that aren’t covered so much in lessons, introduces people to the tutors and some other regular faces, as well as sparking some creativity in any new students to the course. This means that having a line of communication with the marketing team and potentially sharing it through college social media, etc could end up being beneficial to both sides.
Over a few dedicated days of this week, we managed to gather a good amount of completed footage and make a great start on the progress of the project. In the coming weeks, we have much harder scenes to film – requiring more people, harder techniques, etc which we will need to prep ourselves for a little more (with regular meetings with the core crew members between filming to aid in our preparation).
I’m enjoying the process for making this film so far and look forward to what the future holds for these more complicated scenes. Below is a few behind-the-scenes images taken with some of our tutors and/or the cast and crew (unedited):
