Week 17

The end to this week brought with it some harrowing news regarding a member of my extended family being involved in a horrific accident. This of course caused major delays to the completion of my work over the weekend.

Before this news arrived, I had used this week as a chance to work through all the practical elements to a newer project I’m working on with some members of the other media classes, as well as some music and drama students. This would include meeting to brief core members of the group, as well as discussing next steps and organising filming dates. I plan to use this project as an opportunity to take a step back and act less controllingly over the final product of a piece of media – working alongside a co-director to help bring a vision to life.

Before the week came to an end, we had an opportunity to book out some equipment and get some pre-visualisation going for a scene or two. This didn’t end up working out, but thankfully allowed us a chance to see where our shortcomings and strengths are in regards to our teamwork. We chose to remove a couple members of the group due to absences and a lack of clear communication, with the final cast and crew set to be finalised early next week. I look forward to this project greatly and I’m intrigued to see where it goes and the problems that we get to solve moving forward.
