I managed to complete the edit for the sitcom during the ending to this week, with it being much more complicated than I expected and thus taking much more time than anticipated. The submission for this overall project has been published, so I have used to opportunity to prep all the rest of my work to be sent in, leaving only the evaluation to finish up – which I plan to do by the end of the weekend.
We had an amazing opportunity to meet with an industry professional who’d created a 40-minute-long short film titled The Postman, where I was able to learn a lot, ask questions, and potentially network an opportunity for work experience in the future.
This week has also moved quickly in regards to a new project, with which I’m working with new and old faces from the other media classes. We aim to create an amusing and educational video on the process and faces of creating a student film at college level. I will be taking on the role of a director and have been acting in a producing capacity in the early parts of this project thus far. I feel strongly that this project can work well, as I’m working with a very talented and passionate team, and I hope to make a product that I enjoy more than the sitcom (as the outcome for that project has left me with some gripes – though I have still learned a lot from it).
Here is a screenshot of part of the editing process for the sitcom, taken when I had reached a stage of rough completion. All the cuts in each piece of audio and video relate at the least to removing button clicks and colour grading respectively:
